Diodon Orbicularis – Prickly Bottlefish is a one-of-a-kind framed archival reproduction of an 18th-century natural-history illustration from the celebrated fish studies of German naturalist Marcus Elieser Bloch. Depicting the distinctive prickly bottlefish, the original natural-history plate was illustrated by J. F. A. Krüger and engraved by Ludwig Schmidt. Its rounded form, distinctive spiny appearance and finely observed details capture the fascination with marine life that defined historic natural-history illustration.
